It’s often that a programmer will be looking at his or her code for hours on end and finally come to a point where they’re unable to solve the most simple of problems.
This isn’t to do with the programmers ability to program and logically diagnose a problem, it’s mind cramp, it’s no different from doing a great deal of exercise and then having stiff muscles and no longer being able to walk for the rest of the day.
Thankfully when you get such mind cramp programmers only need to walk away from their system for 10 minutes, clear their minds (Have a smoke, make a cuppa, go for a short walk) and 9 times out of 10 the programmer will come back and solve the problem as if it wasn’t difficult.
Take my advice if you will but stepping away from your computer when you have mind cramp can certainly save you a great deal of wasted time and more importantly keep your stress levels low.
Stress kills you, your code and your computer – it’s not worth it.
